Above: Hot dinners are served at Isaiah 58 every night of the week from 4:30 p.m. until 6 p.m. (5:30 p.m. Sundays) November 1st through March 31st.  Cost is free:  not even a sermon to hear.  Everything, from the tiniest pea to our Holy Spirit-filled Pastor Mike, is the result of volunteers.

Among our most precious resources are our volunteers.  Those of us who stay year-around are shown in the slide show below.  Several people serve in more than one position.

The Story of Church of the Isaiah Project 58 of Arizona

Our Story

Having once been homeless, Pastor Mike Hobby  and his wife Linda felt called by God to establish a church in Quartzsite, Arizona to minister to the physical needs of the homeless and hurting.

"People ask me all of the time, 'Why Quartzsite, Arizona?' says Pastor Hobby.  "Believe me, this would not have been my first choice of where to live.  Summer is too hot, windy, and dusty.  Resources are almost non-existent:  the nearest Walmart is 40 miles away!  Many have compared staying here to living in a third-world country."

Several years ago Pastor Mike was blessed with a vision from God, having to do with feeding people.  His and Linda's story is fascinating, one of the many items to look forward to as this website is updated over the coming months.

Our project focuses on God's words from Isaiah 58: 6-10  Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen:  to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke?  Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter--when you see the naked, to clothe them, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?  Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the Lord will answer;  you will cry for help, and He will say: Here am I.

Only miles from the border of California, Quartzsite's winter warmth attracts tens of thousands of Snowbirds in RVs.  With a population of around 3600 people, this town--known best for its Gem and Mineral Shows--attracts over a million people from all over the country, many of them homeless.

"God has called us out to this desert for a reason," explains Pastor Mike.  He literally gave us this property--another story to look forward to.  This is a place where the vision He sent has unfolded and where we can fulfill His will as described in Isaiah 58.
